ON GRATITUDE

BE GRATEFUL. AND NOT JUST FOR THE GOOD STUFF. BUT FOR WHAT FEELS CHALLENGING, TOO….THERE’S ALWAYS A SILVER LINING!

If you’re in the United States, it’s Thanksgiving today. A Thursday of rest, communion and gathering for a meal with family and friends. And the holiday of gratitude. I’m here with you for a few paragraphs to muse on it all.

As I write this, my inbox continues to fill with messages befitting the day. Be grateful. What to be grateful for. How to be grateful. And more.

Yes, be grateful for the good stuff. But also, be grateful for what feels challenging, too. There’s always a silver lining.

How to do it. How to be grateful when life may feel challenging.
What helps me to stay connected to this place of well-being is to have a gratitude routine. I have a daily practice of making a list of 10 things I’m grateful for. Try it as your begin your day. Or take a break in the middle of it. Or end your day with it. And see what happens. Try it for a few days or a week and see what happens. I think you might begin to feel better in many ways….I hope so!

And, if you can find the silver lining in what feels challenging, you’ll end up feeling better.

If the challenges feel difficult to wrap your gratitude around, then, just sit with what feels difficult. Be with the feelings. Breathe into them. Find the feelings in the body. And see what happens. I think you might begin to see and feel the silver lining around it all….I hope so!

And here’s all the good stuff we get from being grateful….
Gratitude is good for our physical health. Our mental and emotional well-being. Our sleep. Our relationships. Science has proven all of that.

As always, yours in service of healing, wellness and living, and with INFINITE GRATITUDE for being able to connect with your here!
